20 SEPT - CBC PREMIER – Sixers and Wickersley stay perfect, but Jubilee stunned by Eckington - Wickersley CC are the early leaders and yet to drop a point after inflicting a second consecutive home defeat, 4-1, on Stannington Village. Wickersley started really well and went in front through Adam Daughtrey. Then the teams evened each other out until Liam O'Brian latched onto a poor clearance and lashed it into the top corner to double Wickersley’s lead. Stannington then had a spell of pressure through a number of free kicks and Ryan Oxley struck from 20yards in the top corner to make it 1-2. Stannington then had a goal disallowed from a long throw in. 

The second half saw Wickersley start really well and a great move was finished by Daughtrey and followed by their fourth when Ben Thornton latched on to a poor defensive header and smashed the ball home. Both sides had goals disallowed after that, but Wickersley took the points home. Action from the game is below.

Wadsley Bridge Sixers also maintained their perfect record by beating a previously unbeaten Hackenthorpe 2-0. A goalless first half saw both sides have only had a couple of half chances. Sixers changed their line-up at half time and sub Danny Reet made a quick impression, scoring with a 25 yard free kick. A move from Sixers keeper and five passes later a great through ball from Reet was finished off by another sub Leo Penty to clinch the victory.

Jubilee Rangers good start came to a shuddering halt with a heavy 7-1 home defeat by Eckington MW. Eckington took the lead in the 9th minute when a long ball was sent forward for Dan White to chase down the keeper & tap home. Eckington doubled the lead in the 18th minute when a great lofted ball by Ryan Bailey found Aiden Horspool to flick over the goalkeeper.

Eckington grabbed a third early in the second half when a ball into the box caused confusion and Horspool prodded home. Horspool completed his hat-trick in the 61st minute with a lovely finish into the bottom corner and it was soon five, with Dan White hitting a great strike from 35 yards into the roof of the net. Jubilee got one back with a good Alfie Smith free kick into the top corner, but Horspool grabbed his fourth of the game for Eckington in the 80th minute. The scoring was completed by White getting the second hat-trick of the day from the penalty spot.

Loca won the local derby at Mosborough Reds 2-0. Ten minutes in great play between Ollie Grady, and Michael Golland resulted in Logan Liggins firing a shot from the corner of the box in to the top corner to open the scoring. Both sides had chances after that but the rest of the first half stayed goalless. The second half was much the same with not many clear cut chances until Loca’s new signing Gabe Oloko wriggled away from his man and fired into the bottom corner from 15 yards.

Royal Earl got their first points of the season with a thrilling 7-4 victory at Boynton Sports. After Jake Gamban had given Boynton an early lead, Earl reacted well and a period of pressure ended with them gaining a penalty, tucked away by Connor Chapell. Ethan Hobson then put Earl in front with a header and although Boynton equalised with a second for Gamban, Jake Squires put Earl back in front just before half time.

After the break Ashley Cooper increased Earl’s lead with a long range effort, but Jack Bennett pulled one back for Boynton. That was as close as Boynton got though as Joe Turner netted Earl's fifth and Chapell netted his second penalty before Johno Williams netted Earl's seventh with a 50 yard lob over the keeper. Will Sammons netted a fourth for Boynton, but Earl saw the rest of the game out without further damage to their lead.

20 SEPT - DIVISION 1 – Queens and Woodman Cotts share the points - The only Division 1 game saw Queens Head and Woodman Cotts both get their first points of the season by drawing 2-2 with each other. Very early on a sloppy pass allowed Kian Scott to intercept the ball and bury a shot into the bottom corner to give Woodman the lead. Queens hit back strongly and finally got an equaliser when Llyod Askwith scored from the edge of the area.

Second half it started evenly but Queens began to create chances and took the lead with a great strike from Harrison Marvin. Soon after, Woodman Cotts equalised with a pin point volley from Nathan Wood from the corner of the box into the top right corner. Queens were then reduced to ten men when keeper Zak Wild saw red for a foul outside his area, but the 10 men held on to take a share of the points.

20 SEPT - SUNDAY TROPHY – Sportsman go goal crazy again the Tykes, and also wins for AFC Wisewood and Crookes - The Sportsman smashed Barnsley Sports Academy 11-1 to go through to Round 2. Joshua Booth opened the scoring, but Barnsley levelled with a penalty, but after that it was one-way traffic. Nicky Owen got Sportsman’s second and Dan Beech their third. Booth completed his hat-trick before half time, and after the break Sam Read got the sixth. Oliver Parfitt got the 7th and 8^th, before sub Joe Kirkham hit a quick-fire hat trick after coming on with around half hour to go

Joining them in Round 2 is AFC Wisewood after a good 5-1 win at The Lounge Ryecroft. Jake Bradford and Sam Gommersall both scored twice to put Wisewood in charge. The Lounge pulled one back with a brilliant free kick into the top corner, but Charles Sherratt netted Wisewood’s fifth in the second half to make sure.

18 SEPT – League Cup Round 2 draw - The draw for Round 2 of the League Cup was made at Bramall Lane and it saw Cup holders Roayl Earl drawn for a visit to old rivals Crookes. Last season's Runners-up Wadsley Bridge Sixers are also away at a Division 1 opponents in The Sportsman. There are two all-CBC Premier ties, with Hackenthorpe entertaining local rivals Loca FC and WickersleyCC entertaining Jubilee Rangers. All the other ties see CBC Premier teams facing Division 1 teams. The full draw is: Boynton Sports v Woodman Cotts; Crookes v Royal Earl; Mosborough Reds v Brinsworth Whitehill; Hackenthorpe FC v Loca FC; Southey Social v Eckington MW; Stannington Village v Queens Head; The Sportsman v WB Sixers; Wickersley CC v Jubilee Rangers. All ties to be played on 4 October, 11am Kick-off

13 SEPT - CBC PREMIER – Jubilee slam the Village and Hackenthorpe shock the champions - Jubilee Rangers beat champions Royal Earl last week and this week they followed it up by slamming last season's Runners-Up Stannington Village 5-1. A cagey start finally opened up when some nice play down the wing saw Brendan Reid-Flanagan run through and keep his cool to pass the ball across to Ciaran Allinson to knock the opener home. Jubilee caused all sorts of problems for the normally reliable Village defence and Mason Hunt volleyed home a second before half-time.

The second half saw Jubilee create chance after chance and it was rewarded when Ciaran Allinson again broke into the box rounded the keeper and some great defending on the line was only a stay of execution as the ball dropped to Matt Civil's feet and he knocked home the third. A fourth quickly followed when a through ball to Will Osgathorpe broke the offside trap and he passed it to the on-running Sam Phillips to tuck the ball home. A fifth came after a wicked Osgathorpe free kick was flicked home for Civil's second of the game. Stannington's only consolation came near the end when they earned a penalty which was dispatched by Charlie Hobson.

Royal Earl's poor start continued as they were defeated 2-0 at home by a Hackenthorpe that made it two wins from two in their first ever season in the top flight. Hackenthorpe took the lead in the first half when Chad Gibson finished off a great assist from Man of the Match Aston Thompson. The second half was a close encounter, with both sides battling hard. Hackenthorpe stayed composed to hold on to their lead and, late in the game, Callum Foster broke away to grab a crucial second to secure all three points.

Another to maintain a perfect start was Wadsley Bridge Sixers with a 2-0 victory at Eckington MW. Goals by George Rudd and Danny Junior in the last 15 minutes of the first half proved enough for Sixers. Eckington did their best to get back into the game after the break and hit the woodwork twice, but with Bradley Howe and Kane Doughty outstanding for the visitors and it was Sixers that went home with the points.

Wickersley CC also made it two from two, slamming newly promoted Mosborough Reds 6-0. Wickersley started slowly and the first half was even until Liam O'Brian's pinpoint cross was headed home by George Walker (pictured right). Mosborough defended well for the rest of the half, but Wickersley started the second half like an express train and scored after just 5 seconds when a great bit of play through the middle was finished by Adam Daughtrey.

Wickersley's third came when Louis Seddons beat three men before rounding the goal keeper to score, before Walker made it four with his second to finish a fast flowing counter attack. The fifth came when Dec Mullane beat the keeper with a shot from outside the area, before a penalty award allowed Walker to complete the scoring and his hat trick from the spot.

Another newly promoted team, Loca FC, secured their first ever top flight victory, 3-1 at home against Boynton Sports. Loca came flying out of the traps and dominated the first half with quick passing and movement. The pressure eventually told when Cammy Evans was brought down in the box and the penalty was duly despatched by Logan Liggins.

The second half started much like the first, with Loca getting the ball down and playing some really good football. Their second came when they worked it out wide to Evans and his quality ball into the box was fired home by Jenson Walsh for his second in two games. Boynton weren’t finished though and put the home defence under intense pressure wich eventually led to a penalty, converted by Jack Bennett. Boynton then threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, but were inevitably caught on the break and Lewis Thompson netted a third to ensure that first top flight victory for Loca.

13 SEPT - DIVISION 1 – The Sportsman's first win is almost Parfitt, while Southey go top - An understrength Brinsworth Whitehill suffered a baptism of fire in their first game in the league when they slumped to a 9-0 defeat by The Sportsman for whom Oliver Parfitt netted five. Parfitt opened the scoring from just inside the area and he soon grabbed his second. Sam Read made it three following a corner, before Dan Beech made it four. Parfitt completed his hat trick from the spot, before Joshua Booth got his first for the club from close range to make it six by half-time.

The second half saw Sportman continue their dominance and Parfitt cut inside and his low strike to made it seven, before hitting a peach from outside the area. Read then finished the scoring with a close range effort for his second oc the game. Brinsworth never stopped working despite injuries meaning they finished the game with 10 men.

Southey Social are the early leaders of Division 1 after late goals gave them a 5-2 victory over a stubborn Woodman Cotts. Southey took the lead after 20 mins when Jack Dickens found Carlton Carty in the box and he finished from close range. Southey doubled the lead after a Kieran Hopkinson free kick was headed across goal by Jay Slocombe and Jack Whyers tapped home from close range. Woodman Cotts got back in it on the stroke of half-time when Chris Salt netted a penalty.

That gave Woodman the early momentum after the break and they levelled when Andrew Swift pounced on a defensive mistake to score. Woodman then missed a couple of chances to take the lead, but those misses were punished by Southey in the final 15 minutes.

Hopkinson put in a great free kick for Ryan Whitney to volley home, before good work by Whyers allowed substitute Luke Broadbent to fire home from 10yds to make it four. Isaac Kamara completed the scoring with his first goal for the club when he robbed the keeper of the ball 30yds out and raced away to roll into an empty net.

13 SEPT - LEAGUE CUP – Queens get a narrow win to head to the last 16 - Queens Head progressed to the last 16 of the League Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory at fellow Division 1 side AFC Wisewood. It was the home side that started better and hit the bar twice and had disallowed goal. After the break Queens started to get on top and it was their turn to miss chances. The winner came five minutes from time when a great cross into the box allowed James Lindores to head home and book Queens place in the next round.

6 SEPT - CBC PREMIER – No Jubilee for Earl, Hackenthorpe begin life at the top with a win, but Sixers hit Loca - Jubilee Rangers got off to the best possible start with a home 2-1 victory over last season's double winners Royal Earl. The game started cagey both teams looking for openings but finding them hard to come by, the only notable chance came for the Earl, but Jubilee keeper James gamble made an instinctive fingertip save to push behind.

After the break the game kicked into life when Jubilee came out fast and when Brendan Reid-Flanagan came alive from a deflection, he cut inside on his left foot to slot the opener home. Jubilee attacked relentlessly and with Royal Earl on the ropes, only their keeper with a string of great saves kept them in it. His efforts paid off when an acrobatic overhead kick by Scott Ruthen saw Earl go level, but Jubilee found another gear and Will Osgathorpe took aim from 30 yards out to fire a dipping shot into the top corner to give Jubilee a deserved victory.

The three promoted clubs were all playing their first ever games in the top flight, but only Hackenthorpe celebrated a win, a home 3-1 victory over Eckington MW. Both teams started the game well with chances at both ends, but it was Hackenthorpe who took the lead in the 25th min with a counter attack off Eckingtons corner, finishing with a Harrison Case cross turned home by Xavier D’Andrade. Eckington then levelled the game just before half-time when Aiden Horspool slotted home into an empty net after Pat Stothard had rounded the keeper.

Hackenthorpe came out strongly in the second half and regained control of the game. Harrison Case put them back in front, drilling the ball into the bottom corner after a great assist from Travis Vintin. They then clinched victory when Aston Thompson rose highest to head home from another excellent corner delivery by Travis Vintin. 

The second newcomer to the CBC Premier, Mosborough Reds, suffered a 3–1 defeat to last season’s runners-up, Stannington Village, in a game that was effectively decided in the first half. Stannington came out strongly and took control early on, racing into a 3–0 lead before half-time. Mikey Vella opened the scoring with a cool finish when one on one and Jay Glover made it 2-0 with a free kick from 25 yards out. Village made it three when they were awarded a penalty and although Jay Glovers spot kick was saved he tucked away the rebound.

Mosborough came out with a much-improved performance in the second half and battled hard to get back into the game. They created opportunities and refused to give up, but Stannington managed the game well and held on to their three-goal advantage. Reds never gave up and finally got some reward when Alex Sorsby turned home a set-piece with virtually the last kick of the game.

The third promoted side, Loca FC, really struggled, losing 6-1 at a Wadsley Bridge Sixers inspired by a Danny Junior hat-trick. Sixers went in front on 6 mins when a long throw from Brad Howe was side footed in by Junior and then on 14 mins Junior doubled the lead with his second. Sixers soon made it three before half time with a Chris Belshaw strike.

Loca started the second half better and deservedly pulled a goal back on 54 mins when Logan Liggins put a smart ball across the 6 yard box for Jenson Walsh to tap in on his debut. With Aaron Statham, Brad Howe and Luke Allison standing firm, Sixers weathered the pressure and Junior made it 4-1 by completing his hat-trick. A minute later Belshaw grabbed his second, before Elliott Wilkes made it 6-1 to end a game well refereed by Pete Henger

Wickersley CC continued their pre-season form with a good 4-1 home win over Boynton Sports. Wickersley started fast and got a deserved goal early through Fraser Hartley. They stayed on the front foot throughout the half penning Boynton in. James Hardemen finished a very good move to double the lead and then after a few good saves from the Boynton keeper, Liam O'Brian made it three.

Boynton had created a few chance of their own before the break and after strong team talk during the interval Boynton held their own in the second half, and with 15 mins remaining Alistair Holland found the net. Boynton went all out to get another, but as gaps opened up, it was Wickersley that completed the scoring with a Jacob Pearson strike with the last kick of the game.

6 SEPT - DIVISION 1 – Southey and Wisewood get off to winning starts – After relegation last season, Southey Social quickly showed their determination for a quick return to the top flight with a good 4-1 win at a Queens Head making its debut in the League. Southey starred well and got the breakthrough after when Danny Booth converted from the spot on his debut after a handball in the area. They doubled their lead when a slick move was fired home at the back post by Roan Heeley. Just before the break, Queens pulled one back when they were awarded a penalty and Dec Spalding scored from the spot.

The second half saw Queens come out on the front foot, but Southey defended well and when they broke Jack Dickens raced into the box only to be brought down, allowing Booth to score his second penalty. Southey were now on top and completed the scoring when Jack Whyers went round the keeper before his shot was deflected in for his first Southey goal.

AFC Wisewood also won when a late Corey Pick goal gave them a 2-1 victory at newly merged Woodman Cotts. Will Gommersall gave Wisewood the lead, but Chis Salt's bullet header from a corner made it 1-1 at half time. Both teams had chances in the second half, but it was Wisewood that took the points when Pick grabbed the winner with 15 minutes to go.

The day’s other game saw The Sportsman and Crookes provide a real six goal thriller before sharing the points. Sportsman took the lead through Dan Beech after his initial free kick had hit the wall, but Crookes equalised when Alfie Broughton rounded goalkeeper and passed into an empty net. Sam Read finished off a well worked move to put Sportsman back in front, but Crookes equalised again before the break when Ben Emsley headed home.

The second half saw Oliver Parfitt put Sportsman in front a third time with a solo effort and Josh Booth had an effort ruled out for offside. Crookes didn’t give up though and grabbed the equaliser a third time when Broughton poked home his second of the game.

25 AUG – Holders Wickersley CC through to the Montagu Cup Final again - Holders Wickersley CC will once again contest the Montagu Cup Final on Easter Monday after Fraser Harley and James Hardeman second half goals gave them a 2-o victory over AFP Press Box in the semi final tonight. Previously, Wickersley beat Wombwell Town Reserves 8-0 in Round 1, Wesrville 2-1 in the last 16 and Whiston 3-1 in the last 8. They will meet the winners of next week's other semi final between Then Gate Inn and Brinsworth DC.

21 AUG – Merger of Woodman and Cotts FC - We are sorry to report that we have 'lost' another club after Woodman and Cotts FC decided to merge. They didn't take the decision lightly, but thought that if they didn't merge both teams would have folded. It means that all Cotts FC fixtures are cancelled. The League will let any referees attached to their games know. The merged team will be know as Woodman Cotts.

It means that Division 1 is now down to 7 teams, so we will be looking at what we should do with fixtures, with teams playing each other 3 times the most likely, but we will consult the teams affected in due course. It also means that Crookes get a bye in the 1st Round of our League Cup on 13 September.

No team has asked for "No Game" on 13 Sept, so all games must go ahead on that date even though United are at home against Wolves with a 12 noon kick-off. If you can get your opponents and referees agreements to kick-off early and your pitch provider allows it, even as early as 9am, you can.

29 JUly – The 2026-27 season:

COUNTY FA AFFILIATION Most clubs have done this, but if you haven't yet started, you should get on with the County FA Affiliation - you are not allowed to play any games, including friendlies, until you have completed your affiliation with the County FA and paid your League Fees. Don't forget your manager and any coaches must also complete the online Safeguarding course to be able to complete your affiliation.

CLUBS WITH PLAYERS UNDER 18 if you have any players under the age of 18 anyone involved in the management, or coaching, of the team on matchdays, or training MUST start the process of getting a football DBS check. Any team not doing will be suspended by the County FA.

29 JUly – Fixture Grid for the 2026-27 season - The Fixture Grid for the new season is shown below. It shows the teams that will be at home each week, the other teams will be away. The actual fixtures will be issued to clubs each month. If any team wants to not have a game in a week they must give Keith at least 5 weeks notice, but be aware that if you are still in a County FA Cup or Trophy, then you may not be allowed to close any of the County FA Cup or Trophy dates.
